Drives Creative is currently producing some select automotive films in the fields of design and motorsport. Early on, we realized that we had unprecedented access to many of the top people in the industry, usually with one-on-one interviews. We recognized the potential of gathering footage for a documentary and by adding in one or two questions or topics we would collect some of the shared knowledge from head designers, project managers, board members and others.

IT STARTS WITH A SKETCH

A FILM ABOUT AUTOMOTIVE DESIGN

The cars we see on the roads today all had their beginnings as lines on paper, usually sketches quickly made with a pen in an attempt to capture a feeling or a thought before it escaped a designer’s mind. Whether it is a concept car, built for an auto show or a concept lawn, or a production car built to satisfy the masses, they were all a product of a designer’s hand, working with repetitive motions across paper, a product of their sense of space and proportion.

This film attempts to capture the spirit of car design, from the very beginning sketches to the final product. It looks into the creative process from the point of view of many of today’s top designers as well as design heads, executives and board members of the world’s top automotive brands.
